LOCATION OF THE APARTMENTS
If you want to spend your holidays away from the noise and everyday rush, enjoy under the Mediterranean sun and swim in crystal clear sea, we kindly invite you to visit Zavala, a small Dalmatian village situated on the South side of the Island Hvar.
Island Hvar is a Croatian island with the highest number of sunny days per year. Internationally it is also known as one of the most beautiful islands in the world. Right after the arrival to the island you will be impressed by its amazing nature and scents of traditional vegetation - lavender, rosemary, olives and many others.
It is possible to reach the island by ferry Jadrolinija from Split or Drvenik, or you can choose a hydroplane which flies from Split airport to Jelsa several times per day.
The distance between Zavala and the nearest town Jelsa is only 7 km. The road leads through a 1,4 km long tunnel which was built in 1960. Unfortunately, buses and caravans are not able to go through as it is only 2,7 m high and 2,3 m wide. In Zavala, there is a small local supermarket, a bakery, a bar on the beach, a pizzeria and a restaurant where you can taste traditional Mediterranean dishes and excellent wine from the nearest and other beautiful vineyards of the Island Hvar.
For swimming and sunbathing you can choose between many small beaches along the shore. There is an approximately 3 km long path, so the beaches are easily reachable and the path is also appropriate for walking or running. You can visit island Šćedro as well, which is located right in front of Zavala, where you can find beautiful small beaches in peaceful nature.
In the early morning or in the evening, when the air has cooled a bit, you can do some sport activities, like hiking to the hill St. Ante right above Zavala village or visiting village Sv. Nedilja, where the most beautiful vineyards of grape species Plavac can be found. Right above the village there is also a little cave, where you can find the remains of the Augustinian monastery from the 15th century. For an amazing view, a visit to the highest point of island Hvar, St. Nicola, is a must. From there you can see Pakleni islands and islands Brač, Šćedro, Pelješac, Korčula, Vis, Lastovo, and if the weather is nice, you can also see a more distant island Sušac. Some of the most beautiful and authentic villages on island Hvar - Humac and Grapčeva špilja - are also worth seeing. The island is known for hiking and cycling, especially in the spring and autumn time. They are popular sports in the summer as well, besides water sports, running, fishing, canoeing, surfing, supping, hiking, etc.
The locals organise many festivals and parties during the summer, so you can either enjoy the warm summer evenings on your terrace in the company of your family and friends with a bottle of wine, or you can pay a visit to any of lovely towns of Hvar Island.
